Uncompromising Commitment to Communities: Service, Leadership, Empowerment

President’s Message

Greetings and welcome to the official website of the Amazing Albany, NY Alumnae Chapter and it is both an honor and a privilege to serve as the 21st President of this great chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. We are on the heels of celebrating our 50th Anniversary of our chapter and I am excited about the great things that our chapter has accomplished. I am thankful that on June 17, 1967 thirteen dynamic women thought it not robbery to charter the Albany, NY Alumnae Chapter. The Chartering Ceremony was held at Schrafts’ Motor Inn in Glenmont, New York. Our first Chapter President was     Soror Mary Wardell Robinson and she served in that office from 1967-1969 and the growth of our chapter began with membership intake in the Fall of 1967.

The Albany, NY Alumnae Chapter serves the Capital District Region and we continuously uphold the sorority’s mission, as we are an organization of college-educated women committed to the constructive development of its members and to public service. We have dedicated our lives to providing public service to our communities through programs that initiate social change, encourage academic excellence and elevate cultural awareness. Since our inception, the Albany, NY Alumnae Chapter is very proud of our youth programs ranging from first grade to high school and has awarded many scholarships to deserving high school students entering college. We continue to implement empowering programs and initiatives that are centered on the organization’s Five Point Programmatic Thrust:

  • Economic Development
  • Educational Development
  • International Awareness & Involvement
  • Physical & Mental Health
  • Political Awareness & Involvement

We strive for excellence in all that we do while making a significant impact in our communities. For this reason, we invite you to support our community-based programs, participate in our fundraisers, and partner with us in our public service projects. Follow us on Twitter, like us on Facebook or Instagram, and visit our website regularly for updates to learn more about our upcoming programs. If you are interested in partnering with us, please feel free to contact me at President@dstanya.org.

We are proud of our rich history, our leadership and our dedicated members and if you are a Soror looking for a chapter home, we invite you to join us as we strive to uphold the principles of our beloved Sorority. We thank you for visiting our website and we look forward to working with you as we continue to carry the Albany, NY Alumnae Chapter to greater heights!

Many Blessings,
